A dive plan should be conducted as soon as you reach the dive site and before any gear is unpacked. A thorough dive plan includes assessment of the site, emergency planning, and agreement of the dive activity.

The acronym "SEABAG" is helpful for organizing and conducting a dive plan. "SEABAG" stands for:
